The Hallandsleden trail begins or ends at Älvsåker, and meets the Bohusleden trail from the north. The trail runs partly on the Gothenburg moraine, a glacial formation that formed about 12,000 years ago. North of Hjälm are the lakes Lilla Iglakärr and Stora Iglakärr, before you reach Fjärås Bräcka and Naturum, the visitor centre.
South of Hjälm, you will pass Stensjön, where you will find a campsite along the section. There is a wind shelter with a fireplace, a composting toilet and wood, but no drinking water.
South of Hjälm, you will pass Stensjön, where you will find a campsite along the stage. There is a wind shelter with a fireplace, a composting toilet and wood, but no drinking water. To the south, the trail becomes moderately hilly, consisting primarily of coniferous forest. Up on the hill are several ancient monuments; the Brattabjär burial ground with its ancient graves is impressive.
The trail will take you up and down through mixed forest and on winding trails and forest roads, until you reach Fjärås. After the Fjärås church, you will enter the Fjärås Bräcka nature reserve. There is much to discover here, and you can learn more from the information signs posted in the area. From here, you will have a fantastic view of Halland's biggest lake, Lygnern, and you can see the lake and the sea simultaneously. Don’t miss the Li Burial Ground, which dates back to the Late Iron Age/Viking Age and is the largest in Halland from this era.
