Hallandsleden offers varied hiking through a diverse and nature-rich landscape, where outdoor experiences, cultural history, and the opportunity for gentle, active recreation come together all year round.
The marked trail currently extends for approximately 450 kilometres through the inland areas of Halland. The trail divides into an eastern and a western route, which rejoin in the scenic Åkulla area, east of Varberg and north of Simlångsdalen at Gyltige. To the south, Hallandsleden connects with Skåneleden, and to the north with Bohusleden. In Halmstad, the European long-distance trail E1 also passes through and continues onwards across Halland.
The landscape along the trail is constantly changing – from deep forests and lakes to open farmland, pastures, and small communities. Parts of the route follow ancient travel paths and offer a rich cultural heritage, including ancient monuments, historic buildings, and points of interest, many of which are marked with information signs.
In addition to the inland stages, a coastal section of Hallandsleden is currently under development and is being gradually extended along the Halland coastline. Several stages are already completed and ready to hike, while others are still in the planning and development phase. The coastal trail complements the inland routes and offers new opportunities to experience Halland’s unique coastal landscape on foot.
Hallandsleden is divided into four sections with a total of 35 stages.
Welcome to Hallandsleden – whether you choose forest, lakes, or the sea.
